I am a new computer owner. I bought myself one a month ago. However, I manage to handle basic things rather good. Now I do not have to call some of my friends to help me with any little problem on my computer. I bought a new Lexmark 2400 with USB connection yesterday and it prints OK but won't scan. Why? What is the latest USB protocol version?

There are two USB's protocol versions: USB 1.1 and USB 2.0. If you bought your computer a month ago and your Lexmark 2400 yesterday, I am sure that they support USB 2.0 standard. However, those two standards are compatible. USB 1.1 devices would work on USB 2.0 ports and USB 2.0 devices would work on USB 1.1 ports. Therefore, something else is wrong about your Lexmark 2400. First, try to reinstall your Lexmark 2400 driver one more time. Be sure not to connect your Lexmark 2400 before installation program told you to do that. If that won't help, check your Lexmark 2400 at some other computer and see what will happen. If it works there then the problem is in your machine. Some multifunctions won't work with some computers if they are plugged on the cable, which is more then 180cm long. Other printers won't work if you plug them on front USB's.
