Whenever I try playing audio on my PC, I get code 10 error. This is very annoying, you can imagine. I have no bloody idea what this thing means. The problem started when I installed Windows XP few weeks ago, and I cannot fix it ever since. Does anyone know what this error mean? Many thanks for your help and your hints

I think this code error has something to do with IRQ and the way Windows assigns it to hardware. I think it would help if you would try to put your card into another slot. This may change your problem,as well as changing positions of the other cards which may be conflicting with your audio card- for example graphic adapter, modem, NIC etc.I remember I used to have similar problem with my old PC, and it was really annoying.I think that you should also check the manufacturers site, and see if there are any known issues, because you could find an idea how to solve it there also.
