Hello. Something is wrong with the hard drive or my motherboard, or some little piece of it. BIOS sees everything. Around 470GB, and that's ok for me. But, windows setup program allows me to see only 140 gigabytes (137 actually). Why? Where is the rest of the space that I am supposed to have? What's the cache? I want all. Thanks on every suggestion.
The trick is inside 24 and 48-bit LbA technology. Some versions of Windows do not recognize, aren't able in fact, to see the total size. Upgrading to the latest service pack will resolve this issue. Create one partition with no more than 40 gigabytes for the system. You won't need more than that, am I correct? When setup finishes, update Windows, and then continue partitioning from disk management console. You will be able to see the whole free space given after.
