Hey all! I need some Active Directory reporting tool that will report changes made to Active Directory. For example I would like it to report new user accounts, password changes and such. Could someone please recommend something that might help me? I really need it ASAP. Thanks in advance!
I think you can configure auditing for Active Directory on DCs but first you need to consolidate all security event logs. I have heard a lot of praise for tools from netpro ( ro.com ) or quest ( t.com ) but I’m not personally familiar with them. You’ll have to find out for yourself but I think it should be right.
I've heard something about these tools but I can't be sure how good they are, I haven't tried them. But I'm familiar with active adminstrator. It's active directory management solution and it includes very useful functionality of active directory reporting. This tool tracks all domain controllers event logs and puta all information to sql database. This way it's very easy to find all necessary events or even got e-mail notifications about the most important ones.
My apologies for bringing this article back up, but I wanted to mention another more cost effective product that actually runs faster and will aid you in getting a good overview of your Active Directory installations.
