| Hi there. I have got brand new machine with one more external hard drive inside USB 2.0 rack. The PC has much faster BIOS, everything than the old notebook I use to work with before this. I saw option inside BIOS to boot from USB port. What does this means, that I can boot from this external hard drive as well? Thanks for any support, and if I can, than how? |

| If the rack uses only power from USB, it probably means that the rack is slow, so forget about it. In other case, make sure that you have plugged the rack into USB 2.0 port, in a case that you have both of 1.1 and 2.0. USB 2.0 is much, much, much more faster and so much about it. You want to run operating system from external drive? It is easy I guess. Put the setup disc (OS that you plan to install) into the drive, disable (for a while) IDE branches from the BIOS, than the Windows setup will be able to detect only external drive. Than create the system partition on the drive and that's it. The rest of procedure is probably already known to you. |
