| Do you keep your automatic updates on? The guy who usually installs my PC, installed Windows XP , and turned the automatic updates off. I guess this service has some purpose, so I am thinking that it is maybe better to turn it on again. I could really use your opinion on this, because I am just a novice, and still learning |

| I keep my automatic updates turned off, all the time, and I did not notice any problem with it. There are several reasons I am doing it. First is the fact that I have a pirate version of Windows XP installed, and I am kind of afraid that it can be traced with that automatic updates process. Second one is - I do not really need it to be done automatically. Whenever I hear there is some new update available, I inform myself what it does, and install it very soon. And, I am not sure, but it seems to me when this process is enabled, it uses much of your RAM memory, for nothing. |
