| Do I need some special codec for mkv files? I found this great movie on the net, and am downloading it using Emule. The format is MKV and I am not sure if I will be able to see it, so I wanted to find things I need before it is done. So, do I need anything special? Or I will be able to play it with Windows Media Player? |

| I honestly doubt you will be able to open this file with windows media player because it needs special codecs, and I doubt you have them installed. It is something called Matroska file, some kind of open source container, and it can only be open if you have matroska codec pack installed. There is of course another solution, which is in my opinion much better. You can download VLC player, which has a support for this kind of files, so you won’t have to install anything else. And if you are thinking that you do not need another player , you are wrong. This player opens everything, including the files temp files you are downloading using Emule. |
