I have a PC for last three years. Yesterday I bought a brand new Dell printer. However, the connecting cable that was in the package was to short. It is 2 meters long but distance between my PC and Dell printer is about 10 meters. Could that may be a reason for persistent paper jams?

That thing cannot cause you a problem with persistent paper jams with your Dell printer. You did not tell us what type of connecting cable you are using. There are several different types of cables. Today, it should be either USB or parallel cable. If your connecting cable is of parallel type then you have nothing to worry. I personally used 12 meters long parallel cables and everything worked just fine. However, the thing is much more different with USB cables. They are faster but more sensitive then parallel cables. The manufacturers claim that printers would be working fine on the 8 meters long USB cables. However, I personally had a problem with 1018 and 4,5 meters long USB cable. Computer was loosing connection with printer from time to time. When we move the printer closer and changed the cable with 1,8 meters USB cable everything went back to normal.
