Im trying to choose to which linux distribution to install. After doing some research over internet, I have found that there are so many different distributions. That makes my choice very difficult. I have noticed there are some special distributions (in which Im not interested) and there are some all around distributions. Can you give me some concise information about few distros you think are the best for me?

First of all, you can give a try to Ubuntu or PCLinux OS. They are maybe the most user friendly distributions available. They will detect and configure your hardware out of the box (unless you have some really exotic hardware). They come on one CD, so, it doesnt require a lot of time to download it and install it. If you need additional software you can always download and install it through their excellent update managers. On the other hand, there are distros like openSUSE or Fedora which are coming on multiple CDs with almost any software you will ever need. The down side is that their default installations arent very resorce friendly.
