One of the best tools for virus removal is certainly NOD32 Antivirus software. It’s not hard to use and has great detection of potential threats. Here are some basic steps on how to use it.

Virus removal with NOD32 V3 has been greatly simplified. Older versions had a bit complicated removal procedure after the detection.

Now, every time you encountered a virus when using NOD32 Version 2, you would be prompted for an action. But the course of action you took would be the same every time of course, which means to clean or delete the virus from your system.

When NOD32 discovers a virus on your system, you will see the following window appear in the bottom right hand corner of your screen.

The first thing you should remember when you see this window is that you shouldn’t panic.

If you see this window, you still DO NOT have a virus infection. NOD32 has protected you against it. When you check message you received further, you’ll see these three pieces of information: Object, Threat and Information.

Object:
This tells you exactly where on your computer the infected file is.

Threat:
This is usually the name of the virus. In this example it is the harmless "Trojan Simulator", but in a real life scenario this could be the name of a well known and much dangerous virus, or it could be information on how NOD detected an unknown virus.

Information:
This shows how the virus removal took place. This is the course of action that the software will take in order to protect your PC. Usually, the virus will be cleaned (if it has attached itself to a file) or deleted.

After this, no further action is necessary on your part. Your system is safe and secure. As you can see yourself, NOD32 is easy to use.

Tips for Advanced Users

If you would rather have full control over virus removal process for each virus alert, as with older versions of NOD32, then you need to go to "Threatsense engine parameter setup" which can be found under the "Antivirus and Antispyware" setup options.
Check the help files from NOD32 if you need help finding these options.
If you set the cleaning level to "No Cleaning" then NOD32 will ask you what to do every time a threat is encountered. Below is a picture of the window you will see if you set this option and a virus tries to infect your machine.

This is similar to the alert window used for virus removal in older versions of NOD32, but with some of the less useful options removed.

Note:
If you think you might have made a mistake when dealing with the alert window, then use the on-demand scanner to check your computer for computer viruses.

If you still have active threats after the cleaning, you can perform scanning again and as many time as necessary, until you fully remove the threats from your PC.

You must type the numbers and letters you see in a picture to confirm that a person, rather than an automated program, is trying to access the page. This requirement helps prevent automated programs from misusing our services. In some instances you might mistakenly type an incorrect character. When this happens you will be asked to type a new set of characters.

Look at the numbers and letters in the picture, and then type them in the confirmation code box below.

If you can't read one or more of the letters or numbers, do one of the following:

      Note:
The letters are CASE SENSITIVE and there are no ZEROs. Do not type spaces between the numbers and letters.
