I have a really odd problem. I had to reinstall WinXp a few days ago. I also installed AOL 8.0. When I try to dial into AOL I can hear the dial tone and the normal connection sounds, but it all suddenly stops and starts to redial. And again, and again. I did a little google research and the only info I found on such problems is that AOL 8.0 does some bad things to winsock. I’m not really sure what that means. I just want to know if I can fix this somehow?

Unfortunately AOL 8.0 seems to make such a mess in your system that even uninstalling
it doesn’t help. You’ll need to reinstall WinXP again unfortunately. And if you want to install AOL again I recommend you version 7.0. It’s closest to 8.0 but it doesn’t make troubles to your machine like 8.0 does. I feel sorry for you but I think that this is the only way to fix your problem.
