.email file extension?

I have found several files with .email extension on my system. I fear that this can be some malicious files and I do not want to mess with them until I get a response from you. What are this files and are they dangerous. If this information can help you I use Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2 installed. Thank you in advance.

This is not suspicious or dangerous file. This is Outlook Express mail message. Although, this files can be infected and pay attention if someone sends you file with this extension. These files can be opened with Outlook Express and Outlook and present text files. I hope that I have calmed you down a little bit.
