Which one do you use, Skype or Messenger?

I have a Microsoft Windows messenger question. I need to uninstall and to find some free internet phone program. I have some relatives abroad. I want to find some job in their country so I desperately need to contact them. I have to explain them what I need and ask them to help me. For that, I need some free Internet phone program. I've heard about some program called Skype. Should I fix my Windows messenger or should I choose Skype?

Windows messenger is abandoned long ago. There were whole bunch of other free Internet programs that were popular in the past years. Some of those were ICQ, Kazaa and Yahoo messenger. However, in the last period, one of them became the most popular software for Internet telephony among the whole Internet society. That software is Skype. First reason for its popularity is the simplicity of its installing. It has a one-click install procedure. Other reason is that using a Skype to call another user, which also has Skype, is free. In addition, if you have at least 512 Kb connections it works great. The only thing, which is paying, is if you use Skype for direct calling of a telephone number, fixed or mobile. However, those charges are also much reduced.
