| I am using Toshiba Tecra T8, and I don know if there is any difference in using Ubuntu on a laptop? Debian, Gnome, Libranet or something else? I am a graphic designer, and I do a little bit of programming. What are hardware requirements? I also want to do regular things like music listening, movies, games etc. Is the installation complicated? Thanks! |

| Hello! Yes, the installation is complicated. Sorry, but you must find some tutorials if you want to install it properly. As far as I know hardware requirements are 256 MB ram, 800 mhz, 4mb video card. It depends on distribution. Ubuntu will divide your software in four sections. They are called components. Some distros are open source, some have a limited access to code. I recommend you to use Debian because you are a beginner as far as I see. You will get used to it, and then you coul run several OS at once. When you download it you will see an ISO image. I dont know why do they use an ISO, but it works fine. Use can even use several desktops during the installation process. |
