I am thinking about reinstalling my PC, finally. I have been using Windows 98 for ages, even when it got completely outdated. Now, it is a complete disaster, it barely functions. So, I think it is time to switch to some other system, Because of the hardware I have, Vista is out of the question. What would be your choice of operating system, excluding Vista?

Well ,lol, it is not that your really have some choice. Windows XP is your most probable choice, and I really cannot understand why you have not switched to it by now. Of course, there is that Windows ME and Windows 2003. The first one is the same as 98, and Windows 2003 is designed for servers, with almost no multimedia add ons. So, unless you were also thinking the possibility to install Linux, XP is your only choice. And not at all a bad one, even if your hardware configuration is a bit outdated. Just do not forget to install service pack 1 and 2 and all the necessary patches.
