Hello! I am using Windows XP Pro operating system with SP2 installed and my default browser is Internet Explorer 6. I use cable connection to the internet. This morning a weird program (from the internet) installed on its own on my system. So far it does not make me any troubles, but I am concerned.

Hello! You should be concerned. First of all, disconnect computer from the internet. After that boot Safe Mode and start scanning your system. First scan with antivirus and after that with antispyware, too. I am sure that they will find that installed software is malicious and they will remove it.
