I need some help with my motherboard driver update. My motherboard could not properly see my new hard drive so I downloaded the latest updated driver from the Internet. However, when I try to install downloaded file I get an error message and my computer restarts as if I press Ctrl-Alt-Delete. To be even worse, now my video keeps resetting back to 800x600 resolution. Is my video card damaged?
I do not think that your video card is actually damaged. I think other reasons caused your problem. The simplest one would be an error in the process of downloading. That way your driver file might be damaged. To check that, you should try to download it once more and than try to reinstall it. You may also have a wrong version of driver for your OS. Your version of drivers could be for some other operating system like Vista and you probably have a XP. In that case, you have to find and download the proper version for your OS. Last reason for your problem could be that your driver update may need some service pack or add-ons. If that is the problem, download and install them first. If nothing helps, complete reinstall certainly will.
