I am using Firefox mostly because of security reasons and vast numbers of plug-ins/extensions. Because I am very concerned about security I would like to know if there is any way to verify plug-ins I download and install. There are so many of them and I fear I would install some malicious plug-in. Hope to hear from you soon.

Verifying a plug-in is not easy. You will have to have some tools to do that. And then, plug-in developer should give you relevant information like MD5 sum or digital signatures which is irrelevant if you do not trust developer form the beginning. If you download plug-ins from official Firefox web site and stick to the well know plug-ins then security risks are minimal.
