What do you think about using Archie for searching FTP files? I’d like to somehow find all those hidden treasures but I don’t know how. Is this Archie a kind of program or something? Am I suppose to download it? I hope that it is at least free. I’m using P2P network but I have heard that it is not so safe and I want to switch to FTP.

As far as I know Archie is not a program and you don’t have to download it. I think that all you have to do is type Archie in the search box and the browser will take you to its location. Then you will see a list of mirrors which is, I guess, actually, a list of FTP servers. For some of them you will need to provide username and password and for the other, which are anonymous you will not need anything in order to access them. Still I think that anonymous FTP servers are not reliable because they can easily be tracked. It is better to let only people who are safe and who have the invitation to use a FTP server.
