Hello. I am about to network two computers together pretty much soon with HUB - PC (both of them), ADSL router modem will also be shared trough the HUB. What I am curious about is what kind of server do I need in order to share my files between GOS and XP for example? Is Apache reliable? Thanks in advance.

I think that Samba is really enough regarding file sharing and security. Security more or less in your case, because file sharing is what you actually need, while Apache is something else. Apache will be useful to you when you decide to share your hard drive trough web pages or similar over the internet. The wide one.
