I’d like a piece of advice on preserving important data on a ruined hard disk. My PC has started resetting and I finally had it examined. It turns out that there are some bad sectors and that it can stop working any day now. But on the other hand it can continue working for a couple of months. Now I need to know how to protect my important data on this HDD.

I know only one reliable and very efficient way of preserving the data on a damaged HDD. It is called back up and I’m sure that you won’t find it too complicated. If I were you I’d burn all the important data and information on DVDs and CDs and if something happens to HDD there would be only material damage in the sense that you would have to buy another one but all your important data will be on the safe side. So, don’t play with them by leaving them unprotected and without performing back up process. That HDD may stop working very soon and sometimes data recovery process can’t save all the data from a HDD.
