I'm trying to put together a system and everything is working more or less OK apart from one thing – I can't get the onboard sound card to produce any sound no matter what I try. The motherboard is an Asus A7N8X, and the speakers are no-name (but definitely functional, tested). I don't know if there's something in BIOS I should enable/disable, or what?
Before trying that, did you make sure you've got the basics covered – got the newest drivers for the mobo, or one version before that if the latest ones aren't working? It's obvious, yeah, but a lot of people don't bother checking for alternate versions and then have to start looking for unconventional solutions, complicating matters needlessly…
