I need some help with my video card driver update and new LCD monitor. My motherboard sees my new video card as 'unknown device', so I downloaded the latest updated driver from the Internet. However, when I try to install downloaded file I get an error message and now my computer restarts from time to time. To be even worse, now I have an initial video error. Is there a possibility that my new LCD monitor and my card are not compatible?
I am sure that your video card is compatible with your new LCD monitor. There are several possible reasons that might cause your problem with new video card and video error. The simplest one would be an error in the process of downloading. In that case, your video driver update file might be damaged. To check that, you should try to download it once more and than try to reinstall it. You may also have a wrong version of driver for your operating system. Your version of drivers could be for some other OS like Windows Millennium or 98 and you may have a XP. In that case, you have to find and download the proper version for your operating system. Last reason for your problem could be that your driver update may need some service pack or add-ons. If that is the problem, download and install them first. If nothing helps, then complete reinstall certainly will.
