Hello. I am about to obtain this program on a regular basis. I couldn't find any free version as I suppose that there is no any. I will be wiling to buy the software if it really does what people are saying. I have heard no bad things about. Anyway, during the trial period of usage, what am I allowed to do and what I'm not allowed to do with?

During the trial period with Auto FTP manager you are not limited anywhere. Only 14 weeks after which you need to pay for the program. The program like any other good trial is completely functional but for a limited time. Nag screen as they say. I think that Windows 98 is no longer supported, so if you consider that for a limitation, than you know the whole story.
