Hi. If I finally start pushing up my gorgeous northwood core up to the limits, should I get rid of the box cooler that came together with, and take a look for something more faster and reliable? I don’t know what I am going to achieve with 1,8 specimen, but I think that I will repeat that old story @ 2.7 gigs… Anyway, I need some advice. I don’t want to “kill” anything. Thanks in advance.

Hi. If you are going to kill something or not, nobody else knows but you. It also depends on a motherboard model where that CPU is. From a time when those CPU’s were made, ASUS had most reliable motherboards for that. The score you heard about is created with P4E533-B model. And there was no additional cooling used. Just go step by step. Increase CPU speed slowly. One mhz by one.
