I have a question for you. After my stubborn refusal to buy myself a PC, my daughters tricked me and bought me one for my birthday. I must admit that refusal was a mistake. Now I’m trying to learn as fast a possible how to use this practical machine. Can you tell me whether FTP is the easiest and most secure way to exchange files on the internet?

This is a tough question for a simple reason that nowadays sharing files over the internet is in a way illegal. FTP is a simple way and it can be one of the safest if it’s a private FTP server which doesn’t accept anonymous logins. That way, only people who know username and password would have the access to that particular FTP server and its contents. Otherwise, if a FTP server accepts anonymous logins, the safety of a server is decreased significantly. I don’t know what to advise you but it would surely be a good idea to learn how to use P2P network. After a while you would be able to see which option you like better.
