Intense downloading makes me lose connection

I have a problem with my internet connection. When I download large files internet connection breaks after some time and I have to reboot computer to restore its functionality once more. When I download small size files or just browse internet everything is fine and connection is stable. Can you give me some hints what might be causing this problem?

This problem might be tied up with your Internet Service Provider. They might disconnect you if you are using to much bandwidth. I know this is not nice but it is entirely possible. Also, download latest drivers for you r network card and install them. I do not think that latest drivers should improve much downloading but simply that old ones might be corrupted. It is worth a try.
