How can I check my internet speed connection? I have just switched to broadband from dial up, and I would like to check if my provider is providing me with the speed I am paying for. Sometimes it seems to me my torrents are downloading too slow, in speed of let’s say 20 kb/s, which is less that I have expected.

There is an excellent speed test at site speakeasy.com you may want to try. The internet connection speed varies though, from time to time, and you should know that. You will get the best results if you shut down all the programs that may use your internet connection, and just leave the browser open. But, as for your download speed, you have to be aware that program settings can also affect the speed .For example, maybe the limit to your download speed it set to 20 kbs, and it cannot download any faster. It is worth to check that out too.So, do the speed test and check the settings.
