There are some things that I can’t stand anymore with this browser, you know. That’s the orange blinking in the task bar when something is being downloaded. Ok, now that’s more or less supportably. I can live with several other processes and download manager in the background, but what I don’t want to look at anymore, is that download bar window, full of previous downloads and attempts, which are slowing down this browser significantly. That’s real pain, if you ask me. I just don’t want to remove them manually anymore, and that’s all. How?

How about, “about:config”? Have you tried to find something in there? I believe that there has to be some kind of option related to what you are asking for. I mean, when you can tweak the connection speed, and with great results though, there probably got to be the way to tweak that as well. Type about:config and read and scroll, and scroll until you find it… I don’t know how else can I help.

I think that there are over 200.000 different add-ons made for the Fox. And according to this info, there just has to be at least 5 more/less the same add-ons for this purpose. Again, all you need to do is to search within related categories. By the way, are you sure that it is necessary to literally waste your time on this? There is clear list button below…

You don’t need anything additional in order to achieve this. Not even tweaking of anything within about:config portion. Are you sure that you didn’t tried with option to manually check what to clear when closing firefox? Downloads window inside Firefox are added as one of the main parts there. You can tell Firefox to clear everything upon each exit, including downloads history.
