Hello there! I’m a newbie to the world of PCs and everything is still completely new to me. I’m using Windows at the moment but some of my friends have been suggesting me to switch to Linux. I still don’t know what to do but what is more confusing to me is the existence of yet another operative system – FreeBSD. Is it similar to some of other systems? Does it have its own extensions or not?

I know that many people have never heard about this operative system, which is a big shame since it is one of the best in the sense of stability. It has been developed at Berkeley University. It is very demanding and as far as I know it is to be run on Intel x86. But if you have this kind of machine I really recommend you to start using it and learn how to use it along with learning how to use your PC. As for its own extensions, I think that it has a couple of them, but the fact is that just like Linux, FreeBSD is a UNIX based program and I believe that there are certain similarity between those two programs.
