I'm getting desperate here! No matter what I do, I can't seem to find the right version of the drivers for this CD burner. The problem was it wouldn't burn at all at a speed over x8. There was an exclamation mark next to the device in the system window, and when I click properties it tells me the drivers should be updated … but the latest dated drivers seem to be too old, since when I try to install them Windows tells me it already has those or newer. I tried driverguide.com, and softwaredriverdownload.com, and all sorts of sites, and nothing so far. Some help would be great.

Actually, it might be that your drivers are up to date. I'm not sure that it's the exact same model, but I think – think – it was a Phillips R/W device that had this incompatibility thing a few years back. IIRC, its drivers didn't agree with Win XP's default CD-writing wizard thingy. The solution was to disable the utility (under Windows services), and use a real CD-writing program, Nero or the like. Try it, see if it works…
